On March 4th, 25 enthusiastic students from Nan Hua High School embarked on an educational journey to appreciate and understand the efforts being made to conserve Singapore's marine ecosystem. The event took place aboard the beautiful yacht DY Nymphea, docked at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove. The students were filled with excitement as they boarded the yacht, eagerly anticipating the day's educational activities.

The day began with a warm welcome from the crew, who escorted the students onto the yacht, followed by a safety briefing from the Captain. The students learned essential safety protocols to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience aboard the DY Nymphea.

A highlight of the day was the tour of the ONE°15 Marina – SeaKeepers Asia Coral Garden, launched in 2018. Here, the students had the unique opportunity to witness live coral in its natural habitat. This immersive experience deepened their understanding of coral ecosystems and the critical role they play in marine biodiversity.

Leading the educational session was marine scientist and researcher Sam Shu Qin. Sam provided an insightful presentation on the current state of Singapore's seas and the various marine conservation efforts underway. She highlighted the importance of coral reefs, the threats they face, and the measures being implemented to protect and restore these vital ecosystems.

Sam also engaged the students in discussions about sustainable practices and how they can contribute to marine conservation in their daily lives. The interactive session allowed the students to ask questions and share their thoughts, fostering a deeper con nection to the cause.

In true Nan Hua style, the students showed their appreciation for the learning journey and the hospitality provided by the Captain and crew by presenting handcrafted gifts they made themselves.

Altogether, it was a memorable and impactful experience for the Nan Hua High School students and everyone involved in the day's activities.
