Vamos a Pescar Community Fishing Event
Miami, Florida
October 13, 2024
Overview
On Sunday, October 13th, 2024, The International SeaKeepers Society’s Educational Outreach and Community Engagement teams attended the Vamos a Pescar community fishing event put on by Miami Dade County Parks at Tropical Park in South Miami. The event, hosted publicly for Miami-Dade County residents, consisted of an all-day children's fishing event, food trucks, and the opportunity to connect with local organizations like SeaKeepers, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, VolunteerCleanup.org, and more about local environmental conservation projects and educational opportunities. Education Manager, Toni Lohroff, and Educational Outreach Associate, Jack Rucker, spent the day at a table advertising our Educational Outreach and Community Engagement programs with a game of marine conservation trivia Jenga and were delighted to interact with over 350 students and local educators with a passion for marine science that were interested in engaging with us. We are grateful to Miami Dade County Parks for including us in this event, and we look forward to working together more closely in the future!
