FIU Literature Student Community Showcase

Overview

On Monday, April 21, 2025, SeaKeepers' Director of Marketing & PR, Ivonne Gamboa, and Director of Education & Outreach, Toni Lohroff, attended the 2025 Florida International University (FIU) Literature Department's Student Community Showcase. Throughout the Spring 2025 semester, Ivonne and Toni worked with students from one undergraduate level and one graduate level English course focused on building community partnerships through projects in communication and market research. These students worked hard throughout the semester to create reports exploring how SeaKeepers could expand volunteer reach, vessel engagement, social media following, and even alignment with the Ocean Literacy Framework through educational outreach programming. The Community Showcase was an amazing opportunity to see the students' hard work come together into visual products like informational posters and videos alongside their written research reports. We look forward to working with the information these students have collected, and we hope they have had a positive experience working with a wide-reaching community organization like The International SeaKeepers Society on such a unique type of project.
